APA is a budget set aside in advance under some yacht charter agreements to cover variable expenses that are not included in the base charter fee. Its amount, payment date and scope are defined in the charter agreement for the selected yacht. APA is not an additional service fee; it is used for actual expenses that fall within the scope of the agreement. At the end of the charter, the APA account is reconciled. Under MYBA terms, any unused balance is returned to the charterer and any shortfall is settled. Arrangements under other contract forms may differ. Personal laundry charges, communications not included in the charter fee and special equipment requested by the charterer may also be treated as operating expenses. However, extraordinary requirements, including certain equipment, transport or excursions not customarily treated as vessel operating cost, may be payable separately in addition to APA. ## How is APA Calculated?
